Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all who visit Grantley House. We have 7 letting rooms,1 of which is on the ground floor.this room would be accessible for a wheelchair. Room 2 is on the first floor, rooms 3,4 & 5 are on the 2nd floor and rooms 6 & 7 are on the 3rd floor.
The following statement is a summary of services and provisions.
- We are situated half a mile from Whitby town centre, which is a 5-10 minute uphill walk.
- There is a bus stop 100 yards from our front door. The main train station and bus station are situated in the town centre and there are several taxi companies that operate in Whitby and telephone numbers are available on request.
- Accessible taxis are available, Radar keys are available at the tourist centre, situated opposite the train station. The website discoveryorkshire.com provides details of accessible attractions, activities and places to visit. Details from this website can be posted prior to arrival. Our website is www.grantleyhouse.com which provides pictures of our rooms and facilities. A map is also available on the website to assist in navigation.

Arrivals
- Taxis will usually drop off within 10 metres to the property.
- Our phone number is clearly displayed on our signage at the front of the property. We do provide for pets and any special requests will usually be accommodated by prior arrangement.
- We have 2 doorbells at the front of the property and it may be necessary to press both bells.
Main Entrance, Reception
- The main entrance at the front of the building is the most accessible. Entrance is gained up one step which is 6 inches high. The outer front door is open through the daytime and at night it is closed but not locked. The inner door is wooden and glass paned. This door is operated with an electronic key fob.
- Through the inner door and all other areas throughout the building are carpeted, with the exception of the bathrooms, which are laminate flooring.
- The lighting above the entrance is 3 x 60w bulbs and is therefore quite bright .All door frames and skirting boards are white.
- The entrance/reception area is 1 metre wide and access to room 1 is on the same level
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
- There are 12 steps leading to the first landing and a further 5 steps to room 2. All steps are 6 inches in height and 30 inches wide and is all crpeted with no width restrictions. There is a banister up all the staircases. Emergency lighting and smoke detectors are fitted on the staircase.
- There is a further 17 steps up to rooms 3,4 & 5.
- There is a further 15 steps leading to rooms 6 & 7.
- The dining room is situated on the ground floor and can seat up to 18 guests. The floor is carpeted and the chairs are wood with padded seats.

Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas
- Bedroom 1 is situated on the ground floor and is the only room that could be suitable for a wheelchair.All doors are 31 inches wide and are painted white on the outside and white on the inside.All bedrooms are carpeted.
- All rooms have a ceiling light switched from the wall and 2 bed lights.
- LCD tv's are fitted in each room and teletext is available.A radio alarm ,,hairdryer,,tea & cooffee making facilities are available in each room
- . Fresh milk is available on request.
- All electrical appliances have been tested in August 2009.
- Chairs are available in each room.
- Room 1 has a double bed. Room 2 has a Super king bed and can be split into two singles. Room 3 has a Double.
- Room 4 has a double, 5 has a single bed. Room 6 is a family room and has a Double & two Bunk beds
- Room 7 is a family room and has a double bed and a single bed.A Z bed is available and could be accommodated in rooms 6 or 7.
- All bedrooms have been fitted with new smoke detectors
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]
- All rooms are ensuite
- All bathrooms are laminate and are entered through 1 door 29 inches wide.
- All bathrooms are fitted with 1 overhead light and lights over the washbasin.
- The width of the bathrooms is 30 inches and would not accommodate a wheelchair.
- There is a shower in each bathroom which is fitted on a plinth 6 inches high with a further
- step of 3 inches into the shower cubicle. There is 1 shower head which has different spray settings .All showers are

Additional Information
- Evacuation procedures are printed clearly in each room and the exit route is via the front door through the inner glass door.
- The proprietors would ensure the safe evacuation of guests in case of emergency.
- The fire panel is serviced each year and we have just upgraded the detectors from heat to smoke detectors.
- The fire alarm is a loud two tone siren.
- Grantley House operates a strict no smoking policy.
- All electrical equipment is tested yearly for compliance and safety.
- All fire extinguishers are tested yearly.
- We are able to cater for special dietary needs if notified in advance.
- we strive to give complete satisfaction and are willing to comply with any reasonable requests .
